The material 1.6587 is a chromium-nickel-molybdenum alloyed case-hardening steel. 1.6587 is used for highly stressed components. The material achieves a very high core strength and high toughness. A typical field of application is gear construction, for example.

Heat Treatment
Soft annealing (+A) at 650 - 700 C°, cooling in oil or polymer
Carburizing at 880 - 980 C°, cooling in oil or polymer
Core hardening at 830 - 870 C°, cooling in oil or polymer
Case hardening at 780 - 820 C°, cooling in oil or polymer
Draining at 150 - 200 C°, cooling in the air
Weldability
The material 1.6587 is weldable.
